welcome to the Summer Examen

1) Centering Prayer

On the 7th day God rested from the work God had been doing – so we too let go of the work of our week.

On the 7th day God blessed the day and made it holy – so we too enter this time and space, setting it apart and calling it holy.

On the 7th day God rested from the creating God had done – so we too center ourselves in the presence of our Creative God, resting in God’s presence & listening for God’s movement in our lives, our community and our world.

2) Psalm 121 (The Message) - A Pilgrim Song

" I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, Who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. He won't let you stumble, your Guardian God won't fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel's Guardian will never doze or sleep. God's your Guardian, right at your side to protect you— Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke. God guards you from every evil, God guards your very life. God guards you when you leave and when you return, God guards you now, God guards you always. "

3) The Examen

Using the 3 movements of the examen choose this day to reflect on your relationship with God, your relationship with friends, family, colleagues, or your relationship with our local and global community.

i) For what experience this week am I most grateful? What was said or done that made it so special? Breathe in gratitude & receive life from that experience.

ii) For what experience this week am I least grateful? What was said or done that made it so difficult? Be with what you feel without trying to change or fix it in any way.

iii) Give thanks for what you have experienced. If you choose share this experience with others.

4) Benediction

Be blessed to go into your week acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with your God.

Go in peace.
